So, what big names made the top spots this year?
As you can see, Miss Taylor Swift won the crown for a second year in a row. Hard competition to beat with her recent tour. It’s definitely been a Swiftie era! She got over 26.6 billion streams across the globe. Insane numbers and it doesn’t look like her streams are slowing down.
In second place, we see The Weeknd, followed by Bad Bunny. The two artists are always either in the top position, or close to the winner’s podium. Year-on-year they continue to gain billions of streams and find themselves battling all artists globally.
Due to the dedication to the cause, Swifties have encouraged Spotify to place the Global Top Artist badge on Taylor’s artist page. A feature which is new for this year. Fans will also notice Easter eggs placed within the app. When streaming Taylor Swift, look out for them.

Call Her Daddy has done well once again. It’s been popular for a while now, however, unfortunately for this podcast host, it isn’t quite enough to beat Joe Rogan. Who, despite controversy, has continued to be in the top position again and again.

Spotify’s top audiobooks for 2024
Audiobooks are a newer feature on Spotify, but, they’re proving to be popular. This year’s top author is Sarah J. Maas with her title A Court of Thorns and Roses, which is a series. Following her came The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R Tolkien which is a no-brainer.
We’d imagine people would rather listen to such a weighty book, not everyone has time to read it, right? In third place is I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy, then another Sarah J. Maas title, A Court of Mist and Fury. It’s been a great year for her as an author.
Last but not least for the top 5 is Colleen Hoover’s It Ends with Us. A book that has been spoken about throughout the year and even went viral across TikTok as a must-read. It’s great to see Spotify continuing to add titles to their platform, making reading more accessible.
