2022 saw a huge catalogue of audiobooks added to Spotify’s library. However, these were only available to listeners who purchased them. While it did move Spotify further towards their goal of making the platform a one-stop-shop for all audio needs, it also meant users had an extra cost to use these features.

Many users across their selected markets; US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand tested out these audiobooks. They listened to thousands of hours of some top authors and narrators. Now, Spotify are choosing to open this feature up to more users. Rather than paying more on top of your Premium bill; audiobooks will be included.

As part of your paid subscription, you will be able to listen to this huge variety of audiobooks. Having more than 150,000 available with the tap of a button. It’s a great way of getting nations reading again (well almost). Some may find themselves reading along with the audio. Others might just find a more mindful way of switching off.

Having a book to read or listen to is a great way to escape. It uses your brain in a way that is benefiting you. We’ve all become guilty of spending hours aimlessly scrolling through social media. Perhaps Spotify adding audiobooks is a brilliant way of diverting our spare time. Every Premium individual account, as well as Family and Duo account will have access.

These accounts will have 15 hours of listening time each month. That’s a lot of books you could listen to in that time. The Family plan will have an account manager, who will presumably be able to allocate timings, or listening hours. Premium account holders will now have more than 100 million tracks, 5 million podcasts and over 150,000 audiobooks.

Those within the UK and Australia will now be able to see these changes. Any US subscription holders will see the feature added later on in the year. Spotify are moving further towards being an audio all-rounder. To access audiobooks, either type into the search bar what you’re looking for, or visit the audiobook hub to browse options.
