Over a year ago, Spotify added a Premium feature which allowed users to listen to stories by their favourite authors. Now, four more regions can access the audiobooks feature.
Spotify launched their audiobooks to Premium users two years ago. Since then, it has been released to listeners in the US, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. The feature allows users to listen to books while on the go. It’s perfect for those with busy lifestyles.
Users will find books they’ve never heard of, along with those from authors they’re familiar with. This variety means there’s something for everyone, and those who perhaps don’t have the time, or struggle picking up a book are able to listen to stories on a regular basis.
Spotify say there are hundreds of thousands of books that can be streamed. So much so, you’d never run out of things to listen to. It’s a great option for Premium users who like to listen to something other than music and podcasts.
Now, users in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg will be able to start streaming audiobooks. There are plenty of local names, such as; Gaël Faye, Maylis de Kerangal, Joël Dicker, Suzanne Vermeer, and Saskia Noort.
Spotify Premium users can access audiobooks
Anyone who pays for the Premium subscription within these countries will be able to access over 200,000 audiobooks. If there is a book you want to listen to which isn’t included, you can purchase it through what Spotify call their à la carte options.
Spotify have partnered with so many publishers across every market to grow their library of audiobooks. Users can access books within their own native language, which is one way Spotify stands out because they’re making resources more accessible.

There are 15,000 French and 15,00 Dutch and Flemish audiobooks about to be added to Spotify’s catalogue, which will open the market up to so many listeners. It’s likely many users will start using this service straight away. We wonder what market will have audiobooks next.
