A sneak preview into Spotify HiFi as new details are leaked

Can I get a HiFi-ve? Spotify have had us on the edge of our seats for too long now. We know it’s coming, but we still don’t know when. They originally said “sometime in 2021” but we only have 4 months left of the year. What if they drop it as a Christmas treat for us all? Wouldn’t that be nice!

What do we want? Spotify HiFi. When do we want it? Now! It was first announced back in February, and since then things have gone a little quiet. Apple have been driving their focus towards their hi-res audio, and it looks like Spotify will rival this with CD quality sound. However, the longer they leave it, the more attraction Apple will gain.

It isn’t confirmed yet whether Spotify will follow their competitors like Apple Music and Amazon by offering this feature for no extra cost. Or, if they will choose to include an extra fee to access their HiFi audio. Will they gain the interest needed for success if they charge extra for it? Your average music listener probably doesn’t care all that much to pay more than their premium cost, so it will need to capture the attention of those willing to pay for the quality.

Spotify’s onboarding process has been leaked. The video below shows what Spotify HiFi will look like when it’s launched. The service will let you know if your connection can support hi-res streaming.

We’re excited to see the end result. Having the option to listen to the best quality of sound possible is something we’re keen for. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled to see if Spotify announce any more information on this any time soon.
