Earlier this year, Spotify introduced a beta feature which allowed Premium users to view music videos from their favourite artists. It’s now expanding to further regions.
Spotify released a Premium feature earlier this year which allowed users access to music videos from their favourite artists. The platform has come a long way from the initial music streaming days, and now offers users the chance to experience a variety of features.
Artists like Charli xcx, LISA, Nick Ward and Fireboy DML are just a few who have adopted Spotify’s visual opportunities. They’ve added music videos to their artist page, which fans can watch while they listen. It brings a more interactive experience to the platform.
Music videos allow fans to connect with their favourite artists. While they might not be interacting with them, they feel more involved by being able to watch the video that runs alongside their favourite sounds.
Spotify released data suggesting 34% of users are more likely to stream a song again if they have viewed a video with it. It could be as simple as, the video brings more excitement to the fans. It’s even said, 24% of users will share or save the song after watching a music video.
Having a music video helps fans immerse themselves in the full experience. Now, 85 new markets will be able to watch as they listen. It started off with just 12 regions being able to access this Premium feature, but now, the beta feature is getting an expansion.
The music store has included video indicators on tracks. This allows users to know when a song has the option for music videos. Spotify also allow users to easily locate videos by displaying them when users search for a song.
Users can flick between music tracks and videos within a single tap on both mobile or desktop. So you don’t have to be redirected to a whole new page. With there being 97 beta markets, Premium users can easily find this option by heading to Spotify.
Click the Switch to video option when streaming a music track. You’ll notice the video appears and will start from where you were within the song, so no need to re-listen to the track from the beginning (unless you want to).
To return to your normal songs, click on the Switch to audio button. You can turn the video to full-screen at any time by turning your mobile from portrait to landscape. The video will automatically enlarge. As of now, the catalogue is fairly limited.
Over time, the catalogue should grow as Spotify iron out any bugs and open their market up to new artists. Spotify are always looking to add new features which will better the experience for their current users, while also encouraging new users to sign up to their Premium plan.
