Previously released in other regions, Audiobook+ is now accessible within the US. Offering listeners an extra 15 hours of audiobooks each month.
Last month, Spotify launched their audiobook feature across Ireland and Canada. After huge success, the feature has been introduced to the US, the UK, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand.
It’s an add-on feature that’s available for those currently using Spotify Premium. It allows listeners an extra 15 hours of audiobook access, on top of their current 15 hours included. Not only is this add-on for individual Premium users, but also for those on a Family or Duo plan.
Those with an individual Premium plan will need to spend an extra $12 per month for the Audiobook+ feature. That might be worthwhile if you’re someone who wants to read but doesn’t always have the time. After all, each individual book or audiobook could cost more.
It works slightly differently for a Family or Duo plan. A standard Family plan is $20 per month, however, currently only the plan holder can access the 15 free hours. Likewise, the $17 Duo plan limits access to the person with the main account.
If the others within these plans want to listen to audiobooks, they can now opt in and pay $12 per month to access their own 15 hours of listening. The plan manager can buy a one time 10 hour top up for themselves or other plan members, and this is $13.
It could be worth it if you have a book to finish but not enough hours. However, other than that, it seems a lot of money for a one time offer. It would be better to upgrade your accounts individually for less.
