There are so many reasons you might want to remove yourself from a post you’ve been tagged in. Whether you simply don’t like the photo of yourself, or, you’re concerned over safety fears, any reason is a good enough reason.
If you’re looking to simply hide a post, so that the original uploader isn’t offended in any way and isn’t aware you’ve removed it from your profile, you can do this quite easily. It means you still remain tagged, but it isn’t visible under your profile anywhere.
How to hide a tagged post on Instagram
- Find the post
- Click on the three dots in the top-right corner
- Choose Tag options
- Click Hide from my profile
If you change your mind, you can repeat these steps and re-add the post to your profile.

Hiding multiple posts:
- Head to your profile
- Choose the Menu option in the top-right
- Select Your activity
- Click Tags and press Select
- Select all posts you want to hide, then press Hide
- Click Hide again to confirm this decision
How to remove your tag from a post on Instagram
To remove a singular post tag:
- Find the post
- Click your username
- Choose Remove me from post
To remove a group of images:
- Click Menu in the top-right corner
- Select Your activity
- Choose Tags then press Select
- Select the photos to remove, then press Remove
- Choose Remove again to confirm
