Instagram is testing a new feature which would allow content creators to drive engagement by making their followers enter secret codes to reveal their posts. Content will be considered lockable.

A new feature is potentially being added to Instagram. Currently, in the works is an option to make your posts lockable. They will require a code, which, when inputted, will reveal the post. It’s a great way to potentially drive engagement by getting followers to complete a task.
It’s in our human nature to be nosey, so it’s likely your followers will wonder what’s beneath the blurred, locked screen. The only way to find out is by them following your instructions to locate the password.

There are several ways you could use the tool to your advantage. For brands, they might find the tool useful to input discount codes for their followers to unlock and use. These codes could be made region specific or for previous customers only.
The feature is similar to the Reveal sticker previously launched by Instagram, however, with this option, a creator is more likely to increase their engagement. It’s likely the code will be accessible from alternative sources. Perhaps you email a code to your loyal customers.
There’s no timeframe on this being introduced. It could be that Instagram decide not to release it at all. However, at this current stage only the Meta team have access to it. If it is revealed, would you use it? It could go either way, a major win or a massive flop.
