Earlier on in the year, Threads introduced a new topic idea which allowed US users to see what news was currently trending. Just like that of X (previously Twitter), Threads added an option to see trending topics, allowing users to stay up to date.

After the testing proved successful, Threads decided to branch out further. They’ve now introduced the option to Japan. Allowing users in this region to scroll through trending topics and keep updated on news pieces as they browse the app.

The social media platform mentioned users across the globe have been asking for this feature to be introduced. So, they have released it as a test in Japan. Hopefully, more regions will have access to it soon, providing this test goes well.

Lots of folks outside the US have been asking for the “Trending Now” feature, and we’re working on bringing it to more countries. This week, we’ll begin testing the feature in Japan with a small number of people to start.

The updates will be in real-time. So all news information you read will be fresh and current. Helping to avoid the miss-spread of information. Certain topics could be filtered. Threads haven’t confirmed this, however, it’s been suggested political content could be hidden.
