Currently launched in beta for Premium users in the US and Canada, are Spotify’s latest feature, music videos. Originally launched last year in other regions, the company has expanded its reach to The States and Canada.
We all remember when our favourite artist dropped their latest music video. It was a whole event. You’d gather around the TV on the music channel, waiting for it to come on, then came the days of YouTube where you’d eagerly wait for the upload to appear.
Of course, both of these things still exist, but, we no longer have to work for it. There’s no need to search for music videos because they’re now provided to us whenever we click on our chosen artist’s content. Well, at least through Spotify anyway.
The music streaming platform offers much more than just music now. It offers a place where fans can watch their favourite artists put on somewhat of a show through their music videos. It’s all within our reach, thanks to the video feature added last year.
However, not every Spotify subscriber was able to view music videos. Before now, the option was released to Premium subscribers in various regions. It’s now expanded and videos are available in Canada and the US too.
During a recent survey made by Burson, it’s been found music fans want more from their listening experience and music videos are just one part of this. 70% of users who took part in the survey said more video content would enhance their experience on Spotify.
How to access Spotify’s music videos
When using either an iOS or Android device, a TV or desktop, Premium users in various beta markets can click on the option Switch to video. It will only appear on supported tracks, so ensure you look out for it.
The video will then start playing wherever the song left off, so, if you press the button at the start, it will play from the start. Likewise, if you play the video halfway through the song, you’ll get half of the video.
If you scroll further down to Related Music Videos, you’ll be able to find more. Also, if you head to an artist’s profile, you might spot some there too under their Music tab. You can filter by genre, and you’ll even find live and cover videos.
