YouTube Premium plan to upgrade how their platform works. They’re increasing the playback speed, so their paying customers are able to watch without buffering.
YouTube Premium plan to increase their playback speeds to up to 4x. These will be in 0.5x increments. This will be accessible through YouTube for Android, iOS, and the web. No longer will users need to visit youtube.com/new to access these tools.
Alongside this update, users will also be able to listen to music through high-quality audio, which will be at 256kbps. It’s now available through the main YouTube app for both Android and iOS, and was already accessible on YouTube Music.
This is just a start for the platform. As previously mentioned, as 2026 drawers closer, we can expect to see new features implemented which should make for a much stronger and smoother user experience.
YouTube’s main aim? It seems to be building the user experience alongside ensuring artists and creators have strong tools in place to deepen their relationships with their audience and fans which, in turn, will keep creators on their platform.
