Take control of your Spotify experience with new video tools. Spotify video controls.
Spotify

Spotify now provide their users with an option, allowing them to customise the app slightly to suit their preferences. Previously, upon video introduction, Spotify would play music videos regardless of whether users wanted them or not.

When bringing music videos to their platform, they encouraged users to watch as they listen. However, this style of listening isn’t for everyone. Some users love to listen and watch the video alongside the track, but others just want a simple, audio only style.

With the introduction of video controls on Spotify, listeners can tailor their experience. Family Plan managers will get to decide which members within their plan have access to videos. They hold the ultimate power, and rightly so as minors shouldn’t have this level of control.

For any account belonging to a user under 13 video controls have already been a feature. The Family Plan holder has been able to control what they see prior to this new developement.

Both Premium and Basic account holders will now have access to these settings. This goes for Individual, Duo, Family and Student plans. The settings updates will allow users globally to decide how and when videos appear on Spotify.

To access these controls, head to, Settings > Content and display and then choose to either have Canvas looping visuals, or videos for music and podcasts on or off. The preference will apply across all media, so mobile, tablet, desktop, web and TV will all hold your chosen preference.
