If you’re someone who loves sending a little VN (voice note) to your friends, updating them about your day-to-day life, you’ll know waiting for them to listen and reply can feel like an eternity. Well, not any more, thanks to Instagram.

Not everyone has time to reply to your voice message straight away, rude, right? Well, Instagram have got your back, because they’ve made the communication process much smoother. Now, there’s no excuse, because they’re adding transcripts.
If you’re on the go and your friend has sent you their daily monologue, but you can’t listen because you’re in a public setting, now you’ll be able to read what they’ve said. You’ll just have to imagine their voice as you’re reading it.
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, has noticed a huge rise in the amount of videos and photos being sent via direct message. People are communicating via sending videos and photos they’ve seen to their friends more than ever.

Therefore, it’s important the social media platform stays on top of all trends, a huge one being voice notes. Now, when you receive an audio clip, you’ll see the option to transcribe the clip, allowing you to read it.
“Now when you receive a voice message in DMs, you can view a transcription of the audio before, during, and after you play the voice message, making it easier to connect with friends even when you can’t listen to their message out loud.“
Instagram is also extending the audio clip time from 1 minute to 5 minutes, which is great for those of us who go all around the houses and have a lot to say. Make those rants longer and give your friends the full juicy details.
