Billie Eilish has broken an Apple Music record, by being the first music artist to receive the title of Artist of the Year twice. She first won the crown back in 2019 and now, in 2024, she’s done it again!
Pop icon Billie Eilish has won Apple Music’s award for Artist of the Year 2024. This comes after her recent Academy Award which is also her second. She also won two GRAMMY Awards for her song What Was I Made For? which is from the Barbie movie soundtrack.
Despite only being 22 years old, she has released three studio albums. Her latest being Hit Me Hard And Soft, which was released via Universal Music Group’s Darkroom and Interscope labels. It reached the top spot on Apple Music’s charts.
These charts not only include all genres, but also, cover 138 countries, so she has taken over so many markets worldwide. She’s taken this popularity on tour. Selling out venues worldwide, and it isn’t about to slow down. The tour will continue into 2025.
Billie Eilish broke Shazam record
Previously, she represented Los Angeles at the summer games’ closing ceremony. This was in August where she performed Birds of a Feather, and it saw her highest day on Shazam. Meaning, more people than ever were using Shazam to discover her music.
She’s beaten The Weeknd, who were previously set to be the top artist on Spotify. However, in August, she passed them and hasn’t been off track since. No other artist stood a chance, it seems. Billie Eilish was on a roll this year, even signing with WME for touring and events.
“Since day one, Apple Music has supported my music and artistry, and I am both honoured and humbled to receive this recognition as Artist of the Year this many years into my career.”

Apple Music are making her entire catalogue available in Spatial Audio, something which their competition hasn’t yet to achieve. They intend to create special playlists throughout the week to end 2024. She’s taken the crown from Taylor Swift, who won the title in 2023.
