If you love hearing the iconic buzz of Super Mario Bros, or have found yourself humming along to the soundtracks from Zelda, you’re in for a treat.
Nintendo are levelling up the fun for their fans. Those classic sounds we all know and love will now be featured on a streaming platform. Any Nintendo Switch online user will be able to access a whole new library of sounds from Animal Crossing, to Wii Sports music.
You may already have started streaming these tracks. Your favourite, nostalgic music all under one streaming platform. Nintendo Music is an app that will bring video games to the music world. Avid gamers will often review soundtracks when a new game launches.
Now, if you find one you like, you might be able to stream it on repeat. Four decades of soundtracks will be available on Nintendo Music. The best part is, if you’re a switch online user, you won’t need to pay to access this feature.
The library has everything from soundscapes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to the Wii shopping channel music. It’s great because with so many years worth of music, you’ll find families all have something they enjoy. Come together and share the nostalgia.
Subscribers are able to stream offline by downloading their music library. You can search just like other music platforms. Looking for track names, playlists and even screenshot browsing. The app even allows you to customise options. Add your own playlists, and adjust settings.
Nintendo Switch music features
You can loop tracks, extend how long they play for, and even hide games from your suggestions. Some users might be concerned about spoilers if they haven’t played a game yet, however, this is why Nintendo added a filtering system to eliminate that risk.
Nintendo are working to improve their app. So far, users can create playlists and share it with other members, however, they’re aiming to upgrade their Nintendo Switch Play Activity options to suggest music recommendations based on gaming habits.
A Switch Online account costs US $3.99 each month or $19.99 annually. The music streaming platform is available for those with Nintendo Switch Online and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack memberships. Currently, it’s available in the US and Canada.
Soon enough, 45 countries including; the US, Canada, the UK, Brazil, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, and South Korea will be able to access the music store. The app and its library will continue to expand over time and as games develop, so will the selection.
The app can be downloaded on the App Store and the Play Store. This music streaming platform has been an idea Nintendo wanted to pursue for years, however, it’s taken them a while to do so. Hopefully, it won’t be a flop and will continue to grow.
