Spotify offers a feature called Song Credits, which allows any listener to click on a list of artists credited within a track. This is great for music discovery and artist and songwriter growth. By having your name featured on a track, you have far more exposure.

The music streaming platform is looking to expand, and include more connections. Users will be able to see more than a song’s collaborators, with a platform like WhoSampled, they’ll be able to reveal more about samples and covers.

A new feature called SongDNA will be added, and it “maps out connections between songs, showing collaborators, samples, and covers all in one place”. This feature will be available for premium users via the Now Playing screen.

SongDNA will be powered by WhoSampled. It will allow smaller artists to be discovered, and the original artists will be displayed as the influence behind these covers. It’s suggested the extra resources will speed up moderation processes.

“Through our recent discussions with Spotify, it became clear that we share a strong belief in the power of musical context – and a vision for helping listeners go deeper into the songs they love. Spotify has shown a genuine commitment to our mission, and we couldn’t have found a better home for WhoSampled.”
