Spotify aim to help the publishing industry expand by adding audiobooks as a feature within their catalogues. However, this growth hasn’t happened in the way they’d have liked, so, they’re stepping things up.

They’re introducing Audiobooks+ which they believe will be a brilliant space for book lovers. This new subscription will be flexible, allowing readers with various budgets to access the new book titles.

The music giants tested the new book features in Canada and Ireland first, and they have seen great feedback, so, they are now bringing it to the UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Users will see two add on subscriptions. Please see the following copied from Spotify:

  • Audiobooks+: Available to Premium Individual subscribers as well as Family and Duo plan managers, this add-on unlocks an additional 15 hours of listening each month for the existing base plan—a great option for booklovers seeking more audiobook time, including fans of longer titles.
  • Audiobooks+ for Plan Members: For the first time, additional members on Premium Family and Duo can access 15 hours of monthly audiobook listening through this recurring add-on. Plan members just need to request audiobook access from their plan manager, who can purchase the add-on on their behalf. They can also purchase a one-time 10-hour top-up if they run out of hours before their monthly billing cycle refreshes.

Hopefully, this will give those with busy lives and schedules a chance to listen to books on the go. Not everyone has the time to sit down to read, sadly, but Spotify are enabling access to fantasy worlds.
