Towards the end of 2024, Spotify partnered with Emirates to create an in-flight entertainment system, allowing passengers to stream from the sky. Now, they’re partnering with United Airlines in the same way.

Late last year, Spotify partnered with Emirates to supply passengers with a platform to stream from while in the air. Now, they’ve teamed up with United in the same way because of how popular the service proved to be.
On this service there will be more than 450 hours worth of playlists, podcasts and audiobooks. All which have been curated by Spotify. Passengers can scroll through endless content until they find something they enjoy.
It saves having to carry your handheld device, potentially draining the battery before you land. Having it displayed on one of the seatback screens, makes the browsing process easier, too. The screens are all 4k quality, and you can even connect via Bluetooth.
Prior to this, Spotify haven’t provided audiobooks and video podcasts onboard an airline. This means United will have something Emirates doesn’t. Just as an example, here are some popular titles offered; Good Hang with Amy Poehler, The Dave Chang Show, and The Comment Section with Drew Afualo.
By adding this option to flights, both long-haul and shorter journeys, Spotify are taking away some of the stress that can come with flying. Whether it’s 2 hours or 22 hours, staring at the back of the chair in front of you is pretty boring.
Why not watch a video podcast for some entertainment. Or, play some of your favourite tracks while playing on one of the in-flight games offered. Passengers will be able to stream without interruptions, and the best bit is, you don’t need to download anything.
We’ve all been there, forgetting to download a playlist before you fly. Well, no longer will you need to sit in silence. Instead, you can access a huge library, saving your phone memory in the process.
In 2026, United users will see even more upgrades. They’ll be able to log into their own account and pull their data up on the screen. Meaning, they’ll have access to personalised content right from their seat.
