Back in March 2025, Google introduced YouTube Premium Lite, a more basic level of their Premium subscription, which came at a lower price point. After the success, Google are rolling out to other regions.

In March earlier this year, YouTube Premium Lite was introduced in the US. It’s now proven to be popular and is expanding into more territories. It makes it easier for users to upgrade and access expanded features for less than a full subscription.
This lower cost method allows users to remove ads when watching videos. It also lets them use background play and download content to watch offline. For US users, this has cost $7.99 per month. However, you cannot stop adverts on all videos.
The US, Australia, Thailand and Germany were the first to have access to this version of subscription. Now, those within Mexico, Argentina, Canada, Brazil and Great Britain. Though, it isn’t available across the whole of the UK.
We’re unsure why at this stage that it has been released to certain areas of the UK, but not all. However, we’d imagine, over time as more and more countries gain access to the subscription, so will the remainder of the UK.
