Setting up an Etsy account is a straightforward process that can help you start selling your handmade or vintage items online. For physical product sales, Etsy can be the perfect one-stop-shop to selling your goods. Here’s how to get started!

1. Create an Etsy account

First, go to the Etsy website. Click on the “Sign in” button in the top right corner. If you don’t have an account, click on “Register.” You can sign up using your email address, Google account, or Facebook. Fill in the required information, including your name, email, and a password, then click “Register.”

2. Set up your shop

Once your account is created, go to the “Sell on Etsy” section, usually found in the menu. Click on “Open Your Etsy Shop.” You’ll need to choose your shop language, country, and currency. After that, select a shop name. This name should be unique and reflect what you plan to sell, so take your time to think it through!

3. List your items

Now it’s time to add your products. Click on “Add a listing.” Here, you can upload photos, write descriptions, set prices, and determine shipping options for your items. Make sure to take clear, high-quality photos and write engaging descriptions to attract buyers. Ensure they’re your own photos and not AI mock-ups.

4. Set your payment and billing information

Next, you’ll need to set up how you’ll receive payments. Etsy offers various options like direct deposit or PayPal. Follow the prompts to enter your payment information. You’ll also need to provide billing details, including how you’ll pay for Etsy’s listing and transaction fees. You won’t be able to receive your money otherwise.

5. Launch your shop

After everything is set up, review your shop to make sure everything looks good. Once you’re ready, click “Open Your Shop.” Congratulations! Your Etsy shop is now live. It’s easy to do and only takes minutes. However, be aware if you have products online, you will be charged each month for it. So, only open when you’re ready.

6. Promote your shop

Finally, share your shop on social media or with friends and family to start attracting customers. Create a Smart Link containing the social media accounts where you share photos and videos of your items, as well as direct links to platforms like Etsy where people can buy your products. Smart Links keep all promotion in one place.
