YouTube launched a collab feature a few months ago, and it’s proven to be quite popular. However, one industry that certainly shouldn’t ignore it, is the music industry.

YouTube recently launched a collab feature which allowed people to join together in content on the platform. Similar to that of Instagram and TikTok, where one creator can upload content and tag a fellow creator as a collaborator.
Now, through YouTube, up to five channels can be part of the same, shared content. When one creator uploads something, they can choose other channels and the content will be displayed across all creator’s pages.
Providing the other creators accept the collaboration request, it will show on their page as though they have uploaded it themselves. Likewise, a subscribe button will appear for each creator’s channel. The view count, however, is individual to each channel.
This is an important decision, because while the content can be shared, the views may matter to each creator individually, especially when it comes to monetisation. Before now, music artists would have their tracks added to YouTube videos and be able to claim from them.
They’d get the earnings, however, they wouldn’t always get the views coming through or the full recognition deserved. With the collaboration feature, music artists can be added to the videos being shared. It will then reach a wider audience.
How to add collaborators on YouTube
Head over to the YouTube Studio and find the details section within your video. This is also an option when you first upload a video. You’ll be able to see a Collaboration button. From here, ensure you’ve added everyone involved with the video.
