We’re kind of jealous because apparently we’re too old to join in with this feature, labelled as just for teens. However, we’re sharing it because it’s pretty cool and if you don’t already know about it, then you need to get to know.
For all Instagram users on a teen account, you’ll now be able to customise your app logo. You can switch between options by pressing the Instagram logo at the top of the home feed once you’ve opened the app. The changes will appear when you close the app.
This means, on your home screen, you could have anything from fire, to green slime, flowers, and more. It might sound like an unnecessary change to the platform, but, having been young once upon a time, we get it.
It’s fun to change your background up on your phone. Choosing the right font and colour scheme and ensuring all your folders are labelled correctly. Hey, we used to download skins apps and wallpaper designs to try and achieve these effects.
There has been backlash, with some claiming Instagram are trying to become Snapchat, but we don’t get the drama. Why can’t both apps appeal to different demographics? Surely, user experience is the most important thing overall.
Instagram teens has only been around for a year now, launching in 2024 to add extra restrictions and limits on PG-13 content. So, giving them something to make their experience more enjoyable and allowing them to have a bit of creative freedom is great.
