YouTube creates a feature to help smaller creators establish themselves. Open Call has been added to the platform’s BrandConnect hub and will host opportunities posted by brands.

It can be incredibly hard for smaller creators to find their break. No matter how great your content is, you can’t be certain brands will find you. YouTube realised this and decided to create a hub for creators to find opportunities.
No longer will you need to search for brand deals, reaching out and waiting to hear back. Instead, you will be able to head to BrandConnect and look at the Open Call element to see what has been posted. Brands can share when they’re looking for a creator.

Above, you can see how the platform will work. Brands are able to invite creators to submit videos showcasing their work, products, business. Anything they have to offer that they believe makes them a great fit.
The brand can then choose which creative best fits their needs. Companies have the choice between paid promotions, through Partnership Ads which would give the creator monetisation opportunities.
“Open call gives creators of all sizes the opportunity to pursue new relationships with brands. And brands can lean on the relevance and trust of YouTube creators to get more from their social strategy on YouTube.”

With the huge push still on short-form video, YouTube believes this could be a huge kick for brands and creators alike. Currently, Open Call is only available for select advertisers, however they plan to expand the reach shortly.
